Kibale national park often referred to as the primate capital of the world, offers an unforgettable adventure centered on chimpanzee tracking. Located in western Uganda in Kibale District, this tropical forest is home to the highest concentration of chimpanzees in the country. During your trek, you will have the opportunity to observe these fascinating primates up close, watching their social interactions and behaviors in their natural habitat. With a success rate of over 95%, chances of encountering chimpanzees are exceptionally high, making this a truly rewarding wildlife experience.

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale forest national park
Your journey will begin with a pick-up from either your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe International Airport, where you will meet your driver-guide for a briefing about the trip. After a short introduction and overview of the safari, you will set off for Kibale National Park, home to some of Uganda’s most fascinating wildlife. The drive will take approximately 4–6 hours, offering scenic views of Uganda’s countryside, including lush plantations and beautiful landscapes. You will have a lunch stop along the way before continuing your journey. Upon arrival, you will check in at Kibale Forest Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk
After an early morning breakfast, you will drive to Kanyanchu Visitor Centre for a briefing before embarking on your chimpanzee tracking experience in Kibale National Park. This activity also offers excellent bird watching, creating a classic African safari experience that engages all your senses amidst stunning natural scenery. As you walk through the lush tropical forest, you will enjoy remarkable encounters with chimpanzees—our closest relatives—as well as a variety of bird species such as the tinker bird and the great blue turaco. You may also spot other primates, including black-and-white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, and more. After this exciting trek, you will return to the park headquarters to meet your driver-guide and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, you will visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided nature walk. This swamp is rich in biodiversity and offers opportunities to spot numerous bird species, including the rare shoebill stork, as well as other wildlife. Later, you will return to Kibale Forest Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Return to Kampala/ Entebbe
After your morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and begin your journey back to Kampala. Enjoy a scenic drive through Uganda’s beautiful landscapes, with a lunch stop along the way and opportunities to take your final photos of the countryside. You will arrive in Kampala in the afternoon, marking the end of your memorable safari with your guide. You will then be dropped off either at your hotel or transferred to Entebbe International Airport for your scheduled flight.
