Who we are
Waka Natures is an umbrella organization operating through several registered entities, including a charitable foundation, tours and travel operations, NGO-related community development programs, and a social enterprise.
Our work
Our work focuses on environmental conservation, climate action, sustainable tourism, volunteer engagement, community development, renewable energy, waste management, and livelihood improvement initiatives across Uganda.

The Waka Natures Waste to Energy Circular Initiative connects waste collection, biogas, cleaner cooking and tree planting. Resources stay useful, while people and nature benefit together.

Collect organic waste from the community so it can become a useful resource.

Turn waste into biogas
Feed suitable organic waste into a biodigester. The process produces biogas for cooking and a nutrient-rich by-product called bio-slurry.

Support cleaner cooking
Use biogas as an alternative to firewood, helping reduce pressure on trees and supporting healthier cooking environments.

Benefit the community
Connect cleaner cooking and waste management with community health, environmental education and care for the environment.

Return nutrients to the soil
Use the bio-slurry by-product as fertiliser, returning nutrients to the soil to support plants and trees.

Plant trees and keep growing
Bring people together to plant and care for trees. Link this work with ongoing waste collection, education and resource reuse to keep the cycle moving.
The cycle continues: community participation connects waste collection, healthier soil and tree planting, creating benefits for health, education and the environment.
