OUR EXPERTISE
Partnering with Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities
Lasting conservation must actively involve the people linked to the natural systems we seek to protect. Their voices must be at the center of what we do. We are continually learning and growing in how we show up as an authentic, ethical partner
The Nature Conservancy is tackling the dual threats of accelerated climate change and unprecedented biodiversity loss. Science determines where we focus and equity guides how we achieve lasting results. Grounded by decades of local on-the-ground experience, we maximize our ability to affect change by bringing together real-world solutions, policy expertise, sustainable financing and collaborative partnerships..
WHAT WE DO
Bring the world to
your solutions
Tree Planting
Our core program involves partnering with schools across Uganda to establish tree nurseries and facilitate tree planting activities. We prioritize fruit trees to contribute to nutrition and food security, and medicinal trees to promote traditional knowledge and healthcare. Students are actively involved in every step, from seedling care to planting and monitoring, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility.
Eco-Tourism
We believe that responsible tourism can be a powerful tool for conservation. Waka Natures supports and promotes eco-tourism initiatives that highlight Uganda's natural beauty while ensuring minimal environmental impact and providing benefits to local communities. By connecting people with nature, we aim to inspire a deeper appreciation for its value and the need for its protection.
Charitable Support
Recognizing the interconnectedness of environmental and social well-being, Waka Natures extends support to vulnerable children and disabled individuals within the communities where we work. We aim to provide opportunities for them to engage with nature and benefit from our environmental initiatives, fostering inclusivity and a shared responsibility for our planet..
